“The Intelligent Optimist”

Barack Obama has promoted the idea of moderate to radical change, while following a vision to unite an America that has not been this divided since Vietnam. Obama’s voter base is strong with an educated, progressive-thinking middle class identity, but he also appeals to working class Americans, and has a large African-American following, one that has an unprecedented potential to influence an election. We feel Obama fits well with our Benevolent Blend, light and bright, with good flavor and a peaceful disposition (hence the name). This blend, consistent with its namesake, has a little Indonesia in it. Even if it’s not your style, as is the case with the well-spoken Obama, it’s hard to hate a coffee with such a light optimism. Finally, it’s got a little bit of richness added for those who still think “benevolence” is too soft in a time of foreign and economic conflict.

The Buckin’ Bronco”

From our blogger, Jimmy Foglio: “I recently had a dream that I had a conversation with John McCain, and it turned out quite thought-provoking. He listened to what I had to say, and was even charming. What I received from my dream, ultimately, was that if McCain is elected, there would be less change and more adjustment, and that I really did not know him until we spoke; he certainly has exhibited this sort of unpredictability with regard to what we will get if he steps into office. McCain is a man who sticks to his principles, and regardless if you like him or not, it’s an admirable trait- someone who believes in something inside their core, and won’t budge on it. Some refer to him as a maverick, and his moderate record and lack of evangelical appeal speak to his breaking with traditional Republican party values. A war veteran and experienced public servant, we feel McCain represents best our Critical Mass Blend. Pungent, powerful and assertive, this blend combines the classic taste of Colombian coffee with the sort of backroom smoky flavor you’d expect from a maverick. It’s got an intense aftertaste too, like the kick of a bucking bronco that affects on the rebound, when you least expect it.”
